The mission of the Western Missouri & Kansas Laborers Employers Cooperation & Education Trust (MoKan LECET) is to enhance the relationship between Union Contractor Employers and Skilled Construction Union Laborers. A primary goal of LECET is to promote the advantages of Union Construction to owners, end users and others, so they may realize the many benefits of well-built construction projects that become lifelong assets to any community.

Project owners want projects built on time, safely and within their budget constraints. Union construction has been a proven method of construction for nearly 100 years. From highly complex projects to wastewater treatment facilities and even more simplified commercial tenant build outs, Union construction has continually delivered lasting, quality construction to the owner and its customer base.

The Western Missouri and Kansas Employers Cooperation & Education Trust (LECET) has been a strong voice for Union Construction and the benefits of Labor-Management Cooperation. A result of this has been the implementation of project tracking services for Union contractors to learn about and win more work.  In addition, the importance of Safety and Training has been elevated through Mo-Kan LECET’s actions.  When Labor & Management Cooperate, good things come out of it for the betterment of ownership and workers. In essence, the construction industry is viewed as a leading industry with opportunities for people to build careers on.

Mo-Kan LECET, working closely with the Laborers District Council, tracks industry issues that can have both a negative and positive impact on Union Construction in our state. Mo-Kan LECET does this by monitoring policies, laws, ordinances that can have an effect on a Union Contractor’s ability to compete in the marketplace.

Western Missouri and Kansas LECET believes that communication is key when it comes to the complex issues and opportunities facing Union Construction today. By issuing Newsletters, members, contractors and others are made aware of some of the important initiatives being addressed by LECET, the Laborers Training Center and the Western Missouri and Kansas District Council.
