Laborers Help Families In Recovery

OCTOBER 02, 2019

Kansas City, MO – Families in Recovery of Mt. Vernon scored a big gift from a benefit golf tournament.

The Western Missouri & Kansas Laborers District Council delivered a check for more than $7,600 to the organization. The money was raised in a golf tournament held in September at Pointe Royale in Branson. The event was organized by the Whosoevers and Mt. Vernon resident Derick Barnes, a business agent of Laborers Local 663. Contributions from the District Council and Local 663 made up $5,000 of the total. A special thank you goes out to the many local organizations and businesses that sponsored teams for the tournament.

Families in Recovery is a ministry that offers a place to live and employment assistance to men who are working to recover from addiction or have recently been released from incarceration. The District Council is an affiliate of LiUNA, the Laborers International Union of North America. It represents more than 4,000 union laborers in Western Missouri and Kansas. Local 663 covers 34 counties in western Missouri, including Lawrence and Barry.
